57 Members and 14

Once again a terrible
rain storm hit just before the doors opened at 5:00 PM.

Our president welcomed
everyone who came and long time no see Janice S. welcome back Janice.

Thanks to Dean for
donating for the good of the club and for the Famous Treasure Box which keeps
growing. Remember, to win the treasure
box you have to stay to the end of the auction.

Al and CL also donated
for the good of the club

Dar gave a short talk
about counterfeit coins that was received at her bank.

David talked about
special handling stamps along with a funny story about runaway loose baby
chicks on his mail route. These four stamps that complete this series.

The images of the
special handling series

was finally shown using
the club’s projector. Dave now knows how to get the projector working right.
Great job Dave. The images were great. Dave
also shared a sheet showing counterfeit invert stamps with a regular one. These
were the Canadian and American versions of the 4 cent St. Lawrence Seaway

Dave reminded everyone
that all any member has to do is make a cd of their collectable’s to share and
we can show it to our membership. Help is available to those (like Dave) that
need help in doing this.

Dave talked about the
costs of running our meeting and stressed that everyone can help by
participating in the 50/50.

The response to our
request for donations in Linn’s and Coin World has been great. The stamps and
coins will be used to attract new youth members and young at heart to our club
and will be distributed at the annual home show and our annual stamp and coin
show.

Silvia R. has personally
contacted by mail and phone every donor. Thank you Silvia R. (I think I will
keep her another 40 years!)

Bob K. is looking into a
charter bus for the stamp show in Dec. and the coin show in Jan. More details
will follow.

John D. and Al won this
month’s vouchers.

Nancy did the 50/50 and
she also won the 50/50. Thanks for all your help Nancy.

36 stayed for the
auction.

Our beloved Bill Bullis
name was drawn for the Treasure Chest.

having their yearly show on Nov.5 at the VFW in St.Augustine.

Jerry and Lily s Granddaughters, were presented with brand new albums donated
by Louis A. and by Marilyn and the members of the Pottstown Stamp Club located
in PA.

President David Rosenthal opened the meeting at 6:00 PM

There were 53 members and guests present.

After welcoming everyone for coming out on a rainy night Dave had everyone stand for a moment of silence for long time member Lou Kiss who passed away on Sunday March 20, 2011.

This meeting was dedicated to the memory of Lou Kiss who was #9 on our membership list.

Our webmaster Bob K. has agreed to take over as Vice President until elections take place in October. Thank you Bob for stepping in during our clubs time of need.

A big thank you again to the VFW and to John Roberts and his wife Dianne and his team for cooking hot dogs, cheeseburgers and meatball subs for our members. The food was great.

Two new members joined our club so a big welcome to #178 June and #179 Robert.

Dave showed the club the DVD projector that was purchased by the club for future use in our educational programs. A big thank you to our new Vice President for driving all the way to Orlando to pick up the projector. A motion made by Francine F. and seconded by Lou A. and approved by hand vote to purchase DVD’s from the APS for educational programs. Instead of renting these programs and the returning them to the APS for around $9.00 each our club can purchase these and keep them for $12.00 each and use them as often as needed.

CL spoke about his DVD’s on flash drive that will work with this projector and also offered these to anyone who needs copies of the programs. Contact CL for details.

Anatoly shared part of his Russian collection of holiday cards and stamp products from Russia. Thank you Anatoly for showing this to the club.

Mike N. talked briefly on new shirts for the club with more information to be given out at our next meeting.

Ed W. had a few kind words about Lou Kiss and suggested that when we open the meeting with Lou’s famous bell that we remember him in our thoughts.

Francine F. has tickets for the upcoming Belk’s charity drive. Belk’s donates the $5.00 fee for the ticket back to the club and gives everyone attending the event on April 16, 2011 a gift card worth $5.00 and up to $1000.00. This takes place 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Please contact Francine for these tickets.

A special thank you goes out to Paul S. who has made table signs for our club. This will help new and current members who want buy, sell, and trade their coins and stamps before and after the meeting.

The club thanks Anatoly, Hein D., Robert S, CL, and Kraze for helping with donations for the good of the club.

Thanks again to our Auction Team, Frankie D., Al S., CL, and of course David R. There were 33 members and guests that stayed for the auction. The Money Monkeys were won by #’s 110, 155, and 158.

The door prize vouchers were won by John H. and Bob K.

The 50/50 was won by Jean P.

The very first Treasure Box was won by Paul B. Congratulations Paul. The winning name for the Treasure box is pulled at the end of the auction. The winner gets the entire contents of the Treasure Box but must leave at least one item. The club asks all of our members to bring in an item or two each month for the Treasure Box. This can be a fun item but must be stamp or coin related. You must be present to win the Treasure Box. Good luck.

Our beloved President Dave Rosenthal opened the meeting at 6:01 PM by ringing the bell and thanking our Vice-President, Lou Kiss for his famous bell. Dave thanked everyone for coming.

There were 84 members and visitors. Some of the visitors brought coins and stamps for appraisals and to sell. A few had donations for the club. All of these visitors either saw us at the Home Show in January or our annual stamp and coin show which was on Feb. 5th at the St Thomas Episcopal Church.

Dave gave a report on the Home Show and thanked everyone for coming out to help and visit at our booth site.

Dave then gave a report on the 7th annual Stamp and Coin Show and thanked every one who helped set up and tear down the show. This was the most successful show the club has put on. There were 438 visitors that came through the doors. Most who came was a result of the publicity we received from the home show, TV ads, live radio broadcasts, and print ads.

Dave gave a talk about the first automated post office and presented a first day cover to the member who guessed the correct date this post office opened, who was Paul Busse.

CL Wyatt Spoke about visiting other shows for fun and enjoyment.

Our good friend Ray Hurst gave a 20 min. presentation on sculptors and received our famous Money Monkey for his gracious efforts.

Mike Nishti gave a detailed report on the club shirts that we have left.

John DeFoe gave an accurate report on our accounts.

Lou Kiss had nothing to say!!

Francine F. had too much to say!!

Thank you Bob K. for keeping our web site operating. Stampandcoinclub.com

Phil Knicely donated the “Treasure Box” which is being added to our monthly meetings. Each month we are asking members to bring in a stamp or coin item to be put into the treasure box. At the end of the auction a name of our paid up members will be pulled and if that member is present at the end of the auction they get the treasure box but must leave one item in the box. This is a new idea for us so let’s have some fun with this.

Remember, if any member has any ideas to try and improve our club, stand up and let us know or contact any of the officers of the club.

There was a lot of selling, trading, and buying before and after the meeting. All members are invited to bring any items for this activity. Tables will be provided for this at every meeting.

Cheeseburgers and Hot Dogs were sold by the VFW before the meeting and was enjoyed by all. Thank you John Roberts for setting this up for our club. This will be available at our next meeting so come early and enjoy the food.

The 50/50 was won by Louie Abella and the door prize vouchers won by Phil Schwartz and Charlie Cohen. The Money Monkies, which is presented during the auction, was won by Keith Martino and Hein DeBoer.

The club wants to thank Hein DeBoer and John Hunter, for bringing in freebies for the members. You both made a lot of members very happy. I also want to thank everyone for bringing in coin and stamp related items for the good of the club. Remember this is an important part of our meeting that brings in needed funds that go towards our Holiday Meal and prizes.

Sister Bernard Joseph, from the St. Augustine Stamp Club, will be our guest speaker at our March 28 meeting. You will not want to miss this event. Sister Bernard Joseph is a great speaker.

Belk’s has given the club tickets for the next charity event taking place in April. The $5.00 donation goes to support our club and everyone gets a gift card worth at least $5.00 when you enter Belk’s for this event. So you get your $5.00 back. This is a win win for

all. Francine F. has the tickets so run over and get them quickly.

Please avoid being dropped from our membership rolls on April 1, 2011 by paying your $15.00 yearly dues. This can be sent to our PO Box 351355, Palm Coast, Fl 32135-1355.

For April, we will have our annual show and tell. We want everyone to bring in one item of interest to share with our members. You will be given a minimum of 30 seconds and a maximum of 5 hours (hee hee) for this.
