Minutes of Meeting Aug 22 2011

Meeting came to order a
little bit after 6:00 PM

 

There were 76 visitors
and members present.

 

There was a lot of
buying, selling, and trading taking place from 5:00 PM till 6:00 PM and free
appraisals on stamps, coins, silverware, and collectable’s for the general
public who came to visit us.

Our club has appointed
our beloved Ed Wolf as Director of Education. If you need to know something
about anything please go to Ed, He has a great deal of knowledge about
anything. Hee Hee!!

Our good friend Bill,
branch manager from PNC, came in to be introduced to our members and gave a hot
and cold beverage insulated cup to everyone present.

Dave R. spoke about a
stamp from Korea that was sold out and increased from 4 cents face to an
astounding cat. value of 25 cents. This over a period of only 30 years.

Dave R. also spoke about
Olney, the post office dog that traveled around the country by train.

Special FDC’s were given
to Jose and William for knowing the dogs name.

Dave R. announced that
the applications for our annual stamp show on Feb. 4th are now available. If
you need a table please contact Dave quickly to make sure you get a spot. We
have sold out our show 4 years in a row.

Our youth program will
take place at the Flagler County Public Library on October 25th at 10:00AM.
Please show up to give us a hand. Last year we had 47 show up for this class.

Jose L. gave a very
interesting talk on a few of the Puerto Rico stamp issues.

Lewis A. made a motion
and seconded by Dar A. for the club to Sponsor Amanda Provenzano and the
Synchrobelles, they have won the State Championships three times in a row and
are now trying for the fourth, $50.00 for the year. This organization for youth
is in desperate need of funds to participate in the state and national events.
Our club will be listed in their newsletter that goes out to all the sponsors
and families.

glad to see you.

Francine F. had a great
time at our free stamps for youth table!!! And let’s not forget Helen who is
being mentored by Francine at the youth table!!

Vera B.won the 50/50

Florian and Loui A.won
the door prize vouchers.

39 people stayed for the
auction.  Robert P. was drawn for the
Treasurer chest.  He was not present.

Dr. John Z. won the
special gold coin holder/counter during the auction. And the Keating family won
the stamp cover door prize.

Thank you all especially
The Sarkisian Brothers, for all your help with straightening out the VFW after
the meeting ended.

 

A SPECIAL NOTE:   Ray Hurtz, from Jacksonville, will be at the
Sep 26 meeting to finish his nationally acclaimed coin program.   Do not miss this event.
