Minutes of Meeting February 28 2011

On March 6, 2011, in Uncategorized, by Flagler County Stamp

84 members and visitors were in attendance.

Our beloved President Dave Rosenthal opened the meeting at 6:01 PM by ringing the bell and thanking our Vice-President, Lou Kiss for his famous bell. Dave thanked everyone for coming.

There were 84 members and visitors. Some of the visitors brought coins and stamps for appraisals and to sell. A few had donations for the club. All of these visitors either saw us at the Home Show in January or our annual stamp and coin show which was on Feb. 5th at the St Thomas Episcopal Church.

Dave gave a report on the Home Show and thanked everyone for coming out to help and visit at our booth site.

Dave then gave a report on the 7th annual Stamp and Coin Show and thanked every one who helped set up and tear down the show. This was the most successful show the club has put on. There were 438 visitors that came through the doors.  Most who came was a result of the publicity we received from the home show, TV ads, live radio broadcasts, and print ads.

Dave gave a talk about the first automated post office and presented a first day cover to the member who guessed the correct date this post office opened, who was Paul Busse.

CL Wyatt Spoke about visiting other shows for fun and enjoyment.

Our good friend Ray Hurst gave a 20 min. presentation on sculptors and received our famous Money Monkey for his gracious efforts.

Mike Nishti gave a detailed report on the club shirts that we have left.

John DeFoe gave an accurate report on our accounts.

Lou Kiss had nothing to say!!

Francine F. had too much to say!!

Thank you Bob K. for keeping our web site operating. Stampandcoinclub.com

Phil Knicely donated the “Treasure Box” which is being added to our monthly meetings. Each month we are asking members to bring in a stamp or coin item to be put into the treasure box. At the end of the auction a name of our paid up members will be pulled and if that member is present at the end of the auction they get the treasure box but must leave one item in the box. This is a new idea for us so let’s have some fun with this.

Remember, if any member has any ideas to try and improve our club, stand up and let us know or contact any of the officers of the club.

There was a lot of selling, trading, and buying before and after the meeting. All members are invited to bring any items for this activity. Tables will be provided for this at every meeting.

Cheeseburgers and Hot Dogs were sold by the VFW before the meeting and was enjoyed by all. Thank you John Roberts for setting this up for our club. This will be available at our next meeting so come early and enjoy the food.

The 50/50 was won by Louie Abella and the door prize vouchers won by Phil Schwartz and Charlie Cohen. The Money Monkies, which is presented during the auction, was won by Keith Martino and Hein DeBoer.

The club wants to thank Hein DeBoer and John Hunter, for bringing in freebies for the members. You both made a lot of members very happy. I also want to thank everyone for bringing in coin and stamp related items for the good of the club. Remember this is an important part of our meeting that brings in needed funds that go towards our Holiday Meal and prizes.

Sister Bernard Joseph, from the St. Augustine Stamp Club, will be our guest speaker at our March 28 meeting. You will not want to miss this event. Sister Bernard Joseph is a great speaker.

Belk’s has given the club tickets for the next charity event taking place in April. The $5.00 donation goes to support our club and everyone gets a gift card worth at least $5.00 when you enter Belk’s for this event. So you get your $5.00 back. This is a win win for

all.  Francine F. has the tickets so run over and get them quickly.

Please avoid being dropped from our membership rolls on April 1, 2011 by paying your $15.00 yearly dues. This can be sent to our PO Box 351355, Palm Coast, Fl 32135-1355.

For April, we will have our annual show and tell. We want everyone to bring in one item of interest to share with our members. You will be given a minimum of 30 seconds and a maximum of 5 hours (hee hee) for this.
